Foreword ： With the world economy development and the process of globalization, the demand on energy is increasing day by day. The consuming of a large amount of fossil fuel has caused global warming and many other environmental problems. Therefore, on the premise that fossil fuel is still the most important energy nowadays, improving energy efficiency, reducing the emission of greenhouse gas, control of energy consumption, exploitation and utilization of new and renewable energy, harmonying energy and environment, as well as realizing the sustainable development of economy and society have become the general consensus. The Chinese Government has now come up with the principle of reinforcing energy conservation and ecological environment protection, and strengthing the ability of sustainable development when the national economy is growing fast continuously.
Domestic and overseas celebrated experts in the fields of energy conservation, emission reduction, exploitation of renewable energy, environment protection, etc, are invited to attend China International Energy Forum 2008 and take part in the deep discussions. The Forum is expected to serve as a platform to promote cooperation between Chinese and foreign energy communities, and to contribute to the common goal of human — the sustainable development of economy and society as well as the harmony between the energy and the environment.
