Invitation Letter for China International Energy Forum 2007
Energy is related to economic development, social stability and national security. China is both energy producing power and energy consuming power. The country maintains a rapid economic development with a strong demand for energy. In the 11 th Five-Year Plan, the Chinese Government has come up with the principle of “giving priority to energy saving, focusing on domestic resources, seeking multi-element development on the basis of coal, optimizing production and consumption structure and establishing stable, economic, clean and safe energy supply system.” The Chinese Government has also released “Renewable Energy Law” and formulated the “Medium and Long-Term Special Energy-Saving Plan.” The State Council approved release of the “Comprehensive Plan for Energy Saving and Reduction of Emission.”
To promote establishment of the energy-saving society in China and expand international cooperation in the energy field, China International Energy Forum 2007 will be held at Yongxing Garden Hotel in Beijing on November 1 and 2, 2007 under the guidance of Councilors Office the Chinese State Council and Energy Bureau of China National Development and Reform Commission.
China International Energy Forum 2007 will be focused on three areas – improvement of energy efficiency, energy and the environment, and renewable energy. Senior managers, well-known scholars from international energy organizations, technological research institutions and energy companies as well as the governmental departments are invited to attend the forum.
We hope that China International Energy Forum 2007 will be helpful for implementation of the scientific development conception to build a harmonious society, establishment of the energy-saving and environmental-friendly society, promotion of the economic structural adjustment, conversion of the growth pattern, improvement of the people's living standard and maintenance of the Chinese people's long-term interests.
